“Natasha” 2019 has a lovely exaggerated hip movement –this piece is inspired by female dancing sculptures found around the temples of Southern India.
I’m really pleased with her patination and although it is a ceramic glaze it has a verdigris quality.

‘Hector’ was inspired by my studies of the male torso and also fragmented forms from the Antiquities.
His gentle lean to the right gives a slight sense of movement to the form. For this sculpture I chose a rich dark blue glaze to emphasis his anatomy.

This sculpture depicts the female form with her arms gently resting behind her. She is part of a small series that I made during 2019 based on Edgar Degas’ resting dancers. Although I have ommitted the head and the majority of the legs I wanted to explore the movement and direction the arms contribute to the truncated form.

This unique sculpture was inspired by a dancing figure in a standing pose, slightly leaning forward with a gentle arch in her back. I am inspired by movement within the human form and create sculptures which are made both from life and intuitively. The attractive colour has been achieved through an oxide which was painted onto the modelled clay and then fired to a high temperature.
This sculpture would suit any interior space.

Lily Ceramic Torso – White

‘Lily’ is one of my recent sculptures which focuses on the simplification of the female form. She was inspired through spending time at the British Museum in London studying the classical antiquities of Greek and Ancient Egyptian sculptural forms. I have used a white mat glaze for the smooth surface which is enhanced by the black granite base.

The simplified torso has a smooth surface which is enhanced through the green glaze and although ’Mia’ has soft figurative qualities there is a sense of energy within her. The steel base has a slight reflective quality which enhances the sculptural forms.

It is glazed using a contemporary blue colour and the arched back and exaggerated raised right hip depict a sense of movement within the fragmented torso. Celebrating the strength and beauty of the female form using either clay or wax I draw influences working directly with a life model and also my imagination.

Sea Green Torso

Standing at 72cm high Sea Green makes an interesting feature to any interior space. The truncated form depicts the female form stretching sideways with a gentle raise to the hip. Her textured torso is enhanced through the glaze and patination. Working directly from a life model and inspired by a variety of cultural references I enjoy celebrating the strength and beauty of the female form.
The plinth measures D:30xW:40 x H:75cm and is included in the price.
