  • Last Catch 2

    £650.00

Acrylic and silver leaf on linen (unframed) Life alongside a small port is always busy. In The Last Catch series the tiny fishing boat rests against the jetty as the nets unload. tiny fish wriggle free from the tangle of rope and glisten against the deep blues of the water. Painted with both brush and palette knife, I like to apply a lot of paint, often removing it all to reveal the underpainting and raw linen below. These paintings are laboured and take quite some time building up rich colour and volumes of paint to achieve the intensity I am seeking. Tumbling sky and deep horizons add enormous depth to limited space and each canvas tells a busy yet tranquil story of a days work.

  • Like Clockwork VII

    £1,750.00

Oil and mixed media on canvas. These are part of a series of works I’ve been making on the theme ‘Preparing A Face’

The multi-faceted spinning head has been a recurring theme in my work.

In our fast paced modern ‘ social’  life we may momentarily find ourselves in various situations where we quickly need to ‘prepare’ or project an appropriate ‘face’. Inspired TS Eliot’s ‘The Love song of J. Alfred Prufock’

‘There will be time, there will be time

To prepare a face to meet the faces that you meet’

  • Little Voice

    £150.00

Oil on canvas (framed) . This is one of many small paintings of contemplative heads I created during Lockdown.  I was unable to travel to my studio so I decided to build on my miniature paintings from my ‘lockdown studio’ aka – the kitchen table. Working on a miniature scale has been a great way to experiment with new approaches and materials. I have painted many of these and they have become part of my ‘Moments of being’ series – they’re visual expressions of moments; emotions and musings on daily life. A black wood frame complements this piece.

  • Luminescence 1

    £1,900.00

    by Emma Hartley

Oil on canvas (framed)  All my work is influenced by the light, the time and the place. They are glimpses of landscape, strongly influenced by my memories of journeys, sometimes walking in the Hampshire countryside around my home or on travels abroad that culminate in the identity of the paintings. This piece depicts a verdant river estuary or creek, capturing the stillness after a hot day just before dusk.

This inspiration for this piece was the golden early morning light on a sunny autumnal day. Deer grazing just after dawn in quiet stillness.

  • Mirroring II

    £590.00

Oil and mixed media on canvas.  This is a playful study about women in group formations. They often mirror each other by adopting the one-hand-on-the-hip ‘teapot’ pose and compete for the photographer’s attention.
