I have always loved mixed media art and have a degree in Architecture. I enjoy combining materials, exploring balance and proportions and bringing a painterly quality to my creations. I discovered Glass 8 years ago, when I went on to study at Kensington and Chelsea College. I completed a BTEC and UAL with Distinction and my final project was selected for the V&A “Inspired By” exhibition in 2018.
I have continued my professional development by attending Masterclasses run by Richmond Art College and also individual glass artists, alongside working from my own home studio to expand my practice. I am based in Elstead, Surrey and I am a member of the Contemporary Glass Society.
My current body of work explores the fantasy theme of wings. They are a playful exploration of colour and light but are also a symbol of protection. Wings are representations of a Universal protective blanket of love, which is there to encompass and shield from harm. The idea started taking shape as I was exploring a project about enclosure.
The sense of an ever-present, softly-felt, invisible hug in the form of otherworldly, ethereal wings is what I am striving to achieve. I am always keen to explore the ideal proportions, light reflections and materials to complement my ideas.
