Based on the South Coast, I am an artist working to join the dots between collage, urban art, photography and mixed media. I create surreal and unusual artwork which provokes a reaction and often includes an element of fun. Working mainly in collage, I combine my own photographs, found images and pages from second-hand books.
Recent travels to Thailand, Japan, New York, Berlin and Spain contribute to the cultural aspect within much of my work, especially the graffiti that often daubs modern cities. Compositions incorporate contrasting images, from early photographs to pop art, and from Canaletto to urban art. I am inviting the viewer down the rabbit hole into immersive imagery where it is possible to create multiple narratives.
Being the daughter of an engineer, I grew up surrounded by technical drawings and architectural models. My early experiences definitely shaped my interest in art and fascination in playing with scale. After studying graphic design and then art, I went on to pursue a career in teaching. Currently, I teach part-time in Portsmouth, where I manage the art curriculum. I split my week between teaching and studio time.
