  • Ceramic glazed dressing jug denim blue

    £30.00

Ceramic stoneware dressing jug in a lovely denim blue – unique and made by hand.  It is custom pigmented with a high fire glaze.  It is a unique piece of tableware and fully functional.  Each piece of art from my current collection is inspired by a certain kind of musical harmony or mode and a dance genre.

I create with passion to convey the impression of momentum.  I enjoy the challenge of working on duality of the art form that is both abstract and concrete, decorative and functional.  Suitable for liquids or sauces – the capacity is approximately 50ml.

Neolithic Heritage no 1 – ceramic vessel

    £3,650.00

Ceramic vessel inspired by natural rock formations and the processes that drive their creation in the earths crust over years and years. This beautiful orangy red and white vessel is based on geological processes.

Jaro has developed a unique technique which he uses to create the aesthetics of naturally occurring minerals and patterns in rocks . Jaro sources his clay. from all over the world: the purples and lavenders from the Julian Alps of Slovenia, emeralds from the banks of the danube, charcoals and greys form Taiwan with glittering mica from Wamumu village in Kenya. Orange reds are sourced from the spring streams in Farnham Park, Surrey and white clay from Cornwall.

As each piece requires different colours this involves months of work to ensure the plasticity, shrinkage and firing temperature must be brought to a common value beforehand. Once the clay has been prepared, Jaro recreates patterns of sinewy marble resembling patterns of real rock formations. This can take several months of mixing ,soaking and drying after which the material is ready for its final shaping on Jaro’s potters wheel followed by a final firing.  The last step reveals the inner rock-like surface which is protected by varnish used by ceramic renovation specialists at the British Museum.
