Emma Hartley

I create ethereal contemporary paintings. I portray the atmosphere, the light that the ordinary eye senses but rarely differentiates from more representative perspectives.

They are often glimpses or ephemeral moments at dawn or dusk. My favourite time of day, when I sense a special sense of calm. My paintings ( featuring landscape, figures and abstract concepts) draw the viewer into the world of feelings, emotions and instincts. This world is gently accessible and appealing and still gently challenging. My paintings reveal the drama and beauty of reality, through the surreal lens of emotional perception. I graduated with a BA Hons in Fine Art and Practice from Winchester School if Art and have many solos and group shows in London and France. I was nominated for Columbia Threadneedle Prize and selected for the Ing Discerning Eye Prize at the Mall Galleries.
