As a young man I was able to travel to other countries including Mexico, India, South East Asia and Europe. The sunsets, sunrises and night skies have influenced my work, as well as the varied and beautiful landscapes of the different countries. In 2008 my son Jack was born but it wasn’t until 2015 that I decided to take my art practise seriously.

I gained my BA honours in Fine Art at the Wolverhampton School of Art in 2019 and continued to complete my MA during the pandemic. Because of the circumstances at that time my work had to change to a much smaller scale as I could only work in the garden shed or my bedroom.

After I returned to my studio practise I continued exploring the language of painting and the act of painting with the intention of making strong visual statements using the fundamental elements created purely from the paint itself and my internal drive. I have never found it easy to express myself with words; I think that is why I chose to paint. My painting practise reflects the excitement I feel in not knowing the outcome at the beginning of the process.

In this processed based approach I use oil paint for its genuine quality, its ability to leave traces, to build layers, and the fact it has a body and life of its own. My experiences in life have definitely influenced my work. Whilst I am working, each action requires a reaction which in turn leads to another and so on. What started out to be something about me becomes something different, it becomes open to the viewer.
