This form started by carving a detail from another carving on a larger scale. It quickly took on it’s own life and the reference to the original piece stopped . All it takes is for one curve meeting one edge and the conversation has begun… its seriously feels like the decisions are not mine , it comes from the material and its idiosyncrasies, its limitations , its colours , textures and all its foibles . There is nothing more joyful to me than being ‘in the zone’ and just doing what I’m told … really that’s how it feels that I’m simply doing what must be done
