Acrylic painting with copper, champagne gold, silver and variegated silver leaf on canvas
Acrylic, copper , gold, silver and variegated silver leaf on canvas.
This piece was inspired by one of the moons orbiting Jupiter. It is often known as Jupiter II and is the smallest of the four Galilean moons which orbit Jupiter. It is also the 6h closest to the planet of all the 79 known moons of Jupiter and the 6th largest moon in the Solar system.
It was named after the Phoenician mother of King Minos of Crete and lover of Zeus.
Europa has a red silicate surface and an ice crust. The copper and blue variegated leaf on the moon reflect those elements.
The back space of the piece is painted with a matt gel medium Hague Blue with a light fade.
